Brainstorm

There they were in the car, my dad, grandparents, uncles and aunt. All in the car heading back to their village. On the way to the village there was a check point and so my grandpa stopped the car and rolled down the windows. Everyone gets their documents ready and give it to the man standing outside. He reads the name “Dani” my uncle and gives back their documents and lets them go. The man that was set at that location was set to kill any Muslims that try to cross that point. My whole family is Muslim they we’re supposed to be killed on the spot. However, the man didn’t look at all the documents he only looked at my uncle’s paper which said Dani which isn’t a Muslim name. The man didn’t bother to look at the other paper. What even worse about this story is that the document after my uncle Dani is my uncle Mohamed. That would have gotten them all killed. Events like this have major implication on someone, no one should ever have to go through that, to be that close to death is traumatic.

My Lebanese people because of this war fled to other countries and since they came from nothing many started creating business. It became a stereotype amongst people to say that Lebanese people always seem to own all the business. For example, if I meet someone and they ask if someone in my family owns a business I say yes. It’s not just me there are many other people who relates to this. So, I really want to figure out why this is the case for these people to own a business. I believe that as a consequence to the civil war these people don’t have a fear of starting business since they’ve been through the worst. It’s a question that has always been in my mind because even I want to own my own business when I grow up. Is this feeling own ownership based on my parents, society I don’t know. I really want to get behind the thought prosses of Lebanese people in Canada to have a greater sense of their personality. It there a true meaning behind what’s happening or is at just a coincidence. Could it also be the fact that coming from a corrupt country makes Lebanese people want to prove the world that they are strong and smart people? These are the type of questions I really want to focus on.
