- “Lebanese Family Creates American Entrepreneurs”. New American Economy, https://www.newamericaneconomy.org/feature/lebanese-family-creates-american-entrepreneurs/
This source talks about Richard Kabban, a second-generation Lebanese American entrepreneur, and it talks about how immigrants are contributing to the business.
This source made me realize that what I’m researching is a real thing that is happening to others as well. I found a potential answer to my question. Which is that Lebanon’s government doesn’t aid their people in any way. So, if a service is needed that the government should but doesn’t pay for, then the people will do it for them. The lack of government aid makes entrepreneurship something that comes naturally to Lebanese people. Another thing that I learned is that Lebanese and immigrants in the USA enter in business to prove a point to a society that they are not terrorists.
2. “A Tale of Two Traders; The Lebanese Diaspora.” The Economist, no. 8827, 2013, p. 68. EBSCOhost, search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?
This source talks about how Lebanese people don’t live in Lebanon and why they moved away from Lebanon.
I learned what a diaspora is, which is the desperation of someone from their homeland. Diaspora added a new perspective to my essay, and it’s an essential aspect to it as well. As I understood the implications and origins of Lebanese Diaspora, it answered many questions about my topic and myself. A lot of personality traits of entrepreneurship in Lebanese people are 100% to them leaving Lebanon and trying to assimilate to their new country.

This article talks about how the Civil War didn’t fix much.
Although Lebanon is more peaceful than it was before the war, it still has many problems. From this article, I learned that as a consequence of the war, Lebanon became very corrupt since the country is still trying to stabilize itself after the war. It talked about the struggles that always go on in that country to this day. It opened up my perspective on the topic because I always pushed away that negative part of Lebanon. Now I understand why people would move away from it.

This source explains the personality of Lebanese Diaspora.
Since I learned about the concept of Diaspora, I got to understand what it means in this source. From the cause, I learned that Lebanese Diaspora is very connected to their kind and their families. So, it led to a global connection of Lebanese people around the world that are regularly communicating with each other. Since Diaspora are very adaptable to their environments, they become integrated into their new societies, which in the end, is a perfect aspect in business to be versatile and to have an extensive social network of people.
5. https://www.yulfoodies.com/ubaryulpizza-en.html?lang=en
The video is a documentary video focusing on Hind El Hage, a restaurant owner at the airport.
This video ties everything I said together about how there’s a sense of connection to Lebanon. When Hind is taking about her food, she has a lot of Lebanese influence on it. So, it opened me up to the idea that the reason why Lebanese people are good in business is that other cultures are attracted to the history of Lebanon. Many people don’t know much about Lebanese culture, and maybe that created the market for Lebanese owned business, to understand the past.
6. I learned that there are so many businesses that are owned by Lebanese people. Many of these businesses have nothing to do with Lebanese culture at all, but some of them do. For example, most people get their groceries from Adonis, which is Lebanese or buy items from Dollarama, which is owned by Lebanese people. Also, Dollarama, which is owned by the Rossy Family, is one of the wealthiest families in the world, and they’re Lebanese. Also, most red carpet looks at the Grammies is designed by Lebanese people. Finally, the best architect in the world was Zaha Hadid, who was Lebanese as well. It goes to show that Lebanese people have done business all over the world and that they are dominating many industries.
